Ten Commandments Hike

The Ten Commandments Hike is an annual interfaith event, a five-mile hike with stops at five houses of worship, each where a religious leader or designated speaker provides a 15-20 minute presentation, introducing youth to their faith and place of worship, and discussing two of the Ten Commandments.

This year, the Ten Commandments Hike tours houses of worship along its northern route in Tallahassee’s Killearn area:

  • Cost: $3.00 per hiker
  • Continental breakfast will be available at check-in
  • Hikers receive an embroidered patch
  • Bring a water bottle and sack lunch
  • Dress for the weather and wear shoes adequate for street hiking

HIKE PATCH SERIES

To better commemorate the Ten Commandments Hike, participants now receive one of four embroidered patches following a four-year cycle.

YEAR ONE 2024
God reveals the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai, stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God.

YEAR THREE 2026
At God’s command, Moses chisels a second set of stone tablets, which are stored in the Ark of the Covenant and carried by the Levites.

YEAR TWO 2025
Enraged by the sight of the people of Israel worshiping a golden calf, Moses smashes the first set of stone tablets.

YEAR FOUR 2027
Flying the banner of Saint Georges Cross in victory, the Paschal Lamb represents Jesus Christ, the new and everlasting covenant, who conquered death and fulfilled the Law of Moses.
